Lidl opens today another store in Warsaw

Lidl in Poland opens another storeand has reasons to celebrate, as it will be the 45th store in Warsaw and the 12,000th store internationally.

The new Lidl store will open today in Warsaw at ul. Żupnicza in Praga Południe. According to the network’s announcement, the new facility will be additionally equipped with numerous ecological solutions.

The new store will have approx. 1700 sq m. of space, including 1,170 sq m. of sales space and will be located in a modern, two-level building with a parking lot on the ground floor of the building.

Eco-solutions at a discount

The new Lidl store, like many other facilities belonging to the chain, is to be ecological.

The heating of the facility will be supported by ground heat pumps using renewable energy from the ground. The facility has also implemented heat recovery technology from cooling devices and recuperation. Photovoltaic panels have been installed on the roof of the facility, and the new investment will also be equipped with an electric car charging station, says Lidl in the announcement.

In addition, the facility has been equipped with LED lighting to reduce energy consumption.

Lidl in Poland

The history of the Lidl network dates back to the 1930s, and the first networks under the brand name were established in Germany in the 1970s. Currently, there are around 12,000 Lidl stores in 31 countries, and around 800 in Poland.

Lidl in Poland, employs over 25,000 people. Store employees who start their careers earn from PLN 3,750 gross to PLN 4,600 gross. After one year of work, the employer guarantees an increase in salary to the level of – PLN 3850 gross to PLN 4800 gross, and after two years of work experience from PLN 4100 gross to PLN 5050 gross. In addition, employees can count on a number of benefits. In turn, employees from Ukraine are offered a free Polish language course.

Lidl also cooperates with Polish producers who supply food to domestic and foreign stores. In 2021, 276 Polish suppliers exported their products under Lidl’s own brands to 28 foreign markets where Lidl is present. The value of these exports amounted to nearly PLN 4.3 billion. On the other hand, in four years (2018-2021), the export of Polish products via the international Lidl network reached the value of over PLN 13 billion.
