The data on the number of people covered by social insurance who do not have Polish citizenship in other words foreigners was provided by ZUS. As indicated by the Social Insurance Institution, at the end of the first half of 2022, the number of such people exceeded one million.
Over 1.011 million foreigners
– At the end of the first half of 2022, over 1.011 million foreigners paid social security contributions, the Department reported in social media.
This is an increase of approx. 21,000 compared to May this year. At the end of this month, 990,000 were registered with the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS. foreigners.
Most of the people who pay contributions in Poland and do not have Polish citizenship are Ukrainians. There are over 6 mio. Ukranians in Poland and also many other nationalities. Many of those are covered via their home countries and in other ways
At the end of June, there were 729,000 of them. This is an increase of approx. 14 thousand compared to May this year.
Payment of social security contributions is compulsory for many forms of employment. Data from ZUS is also a good measure of how many foreigners are legally employed in Poland. The June data is a record reading and a continuation of the upward trend.
