Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, at least 420,000. Ukrainian refugees took up employment in Poland, informed the Minister of Family and Social Policy.
420000 refugees from Ukraine work in Poland now
About 420000 refugees from Ukraine started working on the basis of new, simplified regulations – informed the Minister of Family and Social Policy, Marlena Maląg. New, simplified regulations on the employment of Ukrainian citizens entered into force in mid-March.
The Act on Assistance to Citizens of Ukraine in Connection with the Armed Conflict makes it possible to assign a PESEL number to Ukrainian citizens who came to Poland in connection with the war. On the other hand, an employer who employs a refugee from Ukraine must notify the competent employment office via praca.gov.pl within 14 days.
In the Spring this year, the Minister of Labour and Social Welfare, Marlena Maląg, informed that 180,000 people had already started working in Poland since the beginning of the war.
She emphasised that the government simplified all procedures related to access to the labour market for Ukrainians.
– First of all, it is important to us that the solutions in long-term policy are systemic. Hence the easier access to the labour market for refugees from Ukraine (…) The employer reports a specific person from Ukraine, and the work becomes legal – said Marlena Maląg.
What is the act facilitating the employment of refugees?
The act provides for assigning a PESEL number to Ukrainian citizens who came to Poland in connection with the war. The solution allows for the implementation of a number of public services for these people. In order to facilitate access to online public services, Ukrainian citizens can obtain a trusted profile along with the PESEL number.
At the same time, access to the Polish labour market for Ukrainian citizens and registration with the poviat labour office was guaranteed.
An employer who employs a refugee from Ukraine must notify the competent employment office via praca.gov.pl within 14 days. Ukrainian citizens can also use the services of the labour market in the form of, inter alia, job placement, career counselling and training – on the same terms as Polish citizens.
