Soon many most set a settlement with the tax office in Poland. This year, taxpayers have two more days to settle income tax. April 30 is a Saturday, so the deadline for submitting the annual declaration is May 2.
However, it is worth settling accounts with the tax office as soon as possible. Thanks to this, you can get a refund of overpaid tax faster.
“As a rule, the faster the submission of the tax return, the shorter the waiting time for the tax return . Therefore, it is best not to delay sending the invoice.
In 2022, the automatic return of overpayment from the annual PIT settlement is available. If the amount to be reimbursed does not exceed 5,000 PLN and an office employee does not have to verify and accept it, it is automatically returned by the AUTO RETURN system”, explains Joanna Grochala, accountant at inFakt.
You dont have to go to the tax office
If the taxpayer decides to send them by post or submit the declaration in person to the Tax Office, they will receive the money from the tax overpayment within 3 months. Sending your PIT electronically reduces the waiting time for a tax refund to 45 days.
Additionally, holders of the Large Family Card are privileged. In their case, the return period is a maximum of 30 days.
It is important that if the taxpayer decides to automatically accept the settlement in the “Your e-PIT” service (applies only to PIT-37 or PIT-38), the return period is up to three months from May 2, 2022, i.e. until August 3, 2022
Until when must missing payment be settled?
The deadline for payment of the tax shown for payment (PIT-36, PIT-36L, PIT-37, PIT-38 and PIT-39) for 2021 also expires on May 2, 2022. Payments must be made to an individual tax account (micro-account).
If the return is submitted automatically, without the taxpayer’s interference, the tax office will inform him of the amount due. Nevertheless, it is worth logging in to “Your e-PIT” and checking if there was an underpayment. If so, you can also pay for it through this service.
